This patient was diagnosed with left breast cancer for which she chose mastectomy. Nipple sparing mastectomy with immediate bipedicled DIEP flap reconstruction was performed. A bipedicled DIEP flap utilizes tissue from both sides of the lower abdomen. Since she is thin and wished to maintain her natural breast volume, traditional DIEP reconstruction with one flap would be inadequate. The entire lower abdomen was therefore utilized on a bipedicled flap, allowing for complete volume restoration.
